Documentary Wedding Photography

Capturing how it feels, not how it looks.

Photographing Your Wedding.

Small, intimate weddings are my favorites!
I love to get to know my couples and we often become friends.
When photographing a wedding, I tell a story with the images.
Pretty pictures are great, but pretty pictures that capture the moment are simply the best!
I work hard to capture how your wedding day feels, not how it looks.
When looking at your wedding pictures 20-30 years from now, I want you to be able to relive your day.

What is a Documentary Weddings Photography?

With documentary photography, the focus is always on capturing the real moments.
The moments that you notice and want to remember – I am here to do the job of recording them for you!
But those can also be the moments that you won’t notice because of how intense your wedding day can be. Tears in your grandma’s eyes when she’s watching you go down the aisle, mom squeezing your dad’s hand a bit tighter while you are exchanging the wows, your nephews having so much fun dancing and running around, I can go on and on.
The best thing about having a Documentary Wedding Photographer is getting so much more than you expected!
Why? Because real moments are always unexpected and unplanned. They are also the most fun to look back at.

Wedding Photography Reviews

Polina really helped make our wedding basically the best day ever and I cannot stop looking at all of the amazing photos she took. Not only were the photos incredible but she was so professional, hardworking, organized, unobtrusive, kind, and was a pleasure to work with. She planned where to take photos for me and my husband in Dumbo by Brooklyn bridge park and by these amazing murals. She took artistic non cookie-cutter photos and great natural shots. She was a hardworking machine discreetly taking photos of every part of our wedding of 140. Polina really captured the feeling of our wedding and added tremendously to making our day fun, seamless, and unforgettable. I can not recommend her highly enough!

Polina is an incredibly talented photographer with an eye for the beauty in details and unplanned moments. Not only did she expertly capture the feeling of our 85-guest wedding, she also devised artistic posed shots and, with her warm, professional manner, was a pleasure to have at the party! She put together a sensible, comfortable schedule for the day and we also have her to thank for suggesting the most beautiful place to hold our ceremony based on the lighting at that time of day. I come from a family that has a lot of opinions when it comes to photography and Polina’s work was lauded all around. We have literally hundreds of beautiful, interesting photos from the wedding—it’s actually amazing that one person was able to take them all. Highly recommend!

Polina is a very enthusiastic photographer. She has shot our wedding and we love the pictures. We especially love the snap shots of all of our guests. Those are the best. She was a pleasure to work with and we are so happy we picked her. I would definitely recommend her to everyone who is looking for a friendly, kind and professional photographer!

My husband and I highly recommend Polina. Her tender care is evident in both her photos and the photo shoot. During our wedding day, she was assertive yet respectful. The highlight was when she jumped into city traffic to capture a "Kodak moment." The photos and album truly captured the serenity of our special day. Her high level of professionalism and sweet demeanor made the entire process stress-free for us. We highly recommend her.

Polina photographed our wedding recently and was absolutely phenomenal to work with. We took photos on the Highline - which on a beautiful Saturday is no easy feat. Polina navigated the Highline with ease - indeed she went several days before and found unique, interesting locations that captured the beauty of the space. She was a wonderful addition to the remainder of our wedding day, and added to the joy we all experienced! I plan on using her multiple times in the upcoming years for events and parties.

We chose Polina for our wedding after seeing her website & loving her style. She was a pleasure to work with from beginning to end. She was professional & never imposing yet captured our day exactly how we wanted it & we came away feeling like we'd made a friend! We cannot thank her enough for all her help as she always responded to every email & answered every question as we are from UK so all liaising had to be done by email - which was never a problem. We would highly recommend Polina to anybody & hope to work with her ourselves again in the future.
