I can't believe it's 10 weeks already! Another 42 to go.
While having breakfast at Ikea today we looked out the window at Statue of Liberty and you’ve been telling me all you know about it. That it was a gift from the people of France to the people of the United States, what it represents, etc. And then you told me: "Mom, when you grow up you'll be a smart grandma!" Good to know that I still have a chance.
You love listening to the music on the way to school. Your recent favorite is "Ain't No Grave". You are not only singing along but also trying to dance as much as it's possible being buckled up in the car.
Every time you finish a Project Based Learning Unit at school, you have a museum for parents to showcase what you’ve learned. This unit was about Pilgrims. I couldn't attend the museum on Friday, so I stopped by your classroom today and you proudly showed me around. This is the diary entry that you wrote pretending that you are a child traveling on a Mayflower and facing all the different hardships along the way. I was truly impressed!
Another thing you showed me was a self portrait of you as a Pilgrim.
The new place turned out to be not as bad as he expected.
Your school had a bomb threat today. I've got a call that everyone was evacuated and rushed to pick you up. The school building surrounded by police cars is probably the scariest sight for any parent. School staff and teachers performed on a highest level so all of you were sitting in groups by classes in the park and looked very calm. Volleyball club got cancelled and we were home earlier than usual, so you asked to have your snack on a balcony. You've been worrying about moving to the new place, but the thought of having your own balcony cheered you up. You've got to enjoy it for the first time today.
Today after the Shabbat dinner you asked me to turn on the Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy on my phone and you danced for us. You've been so absorbed by the music. I am always amazed by you being a little human with such a deep perception of beauty. It's true about everything - art, music, nature. In this crazy world, where everyone is rushing somewhere, you teach me to stop and look and listen and enjoy.
I am not sure he likes weekends as much as you do.
